Dr. Reuben Brigety II currently serves as the Deputy Assistant to the Secretary of State.

Dr. Brigety holds a M.Phil and Ph.D in international relations from Cambridge University, London. He also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the United States Naval Academy.

Prior to his current position, Brigety served as an assistant professor at George Mason University, teaching government and politics. He also taught international relations at American University. In addition to teaching, Brigety has also served as the Director of Sustainable Security Progam for the Center of American Progress (2008-2009) and Special Assistant for the Bureau for Democracy, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance for the US Agency for International Relations (2007-2008).

Brigety's efforts are focused on politics, international relations and humanitarian issues.
