Reine Pélagie is a singer from the Côte d'Ivoire who interprets ziglibiti, music born from the fusion of traditional Ivorienne music and Congolese rhythms.
When Reine Pélagie first stepped onto the music scene it was not a surprise because she has had an affinity for the arts from a young age. In elementary school she was designated to sing the school song each morning while the flag was hoisted. The power and beauty of her voice even led her to be the lead singer, without competition, in performances at all levels in her studies at school.
Due to her relentless efforts in calling people to action for justice and peace in the world, particularly in Africa, all of her friends call her Mama Africa.
