Description of Work:

When Reine Pélagie first stepped onto the music scene it was not a surprise because she has had an affinity for the arts from a young age. In elementary school she was designated to sing the school song each morning while the flag was hoisted. The power and beauty of her voice even led her to be the lead singer, without competition, in performances at all levels in her studies at school.

Reine Pélagie chose to work hard in the shadow of the grand masters of music before she came out with her first album in 1980, MAÏKANO. After this point she released a series of songs world wide; Pélagie has released more than 10 successful albums. She has won many awards all around the world including the chevalier de l'ordre de merite Ivoirien.

Due to her relentless efforts in calling people to action for justice and peace in the world, particularly in Africa, all of her friends call her Mama Africa.
