Description of Work:
Shortly after taking the thrown, King Mohammed addressed his country, making a commitment to alleviate poverty, improve Morocco's human rights record and grant more power to women - reforms which have earned him much criticism from fundamentalists.
He is noted for his creation of the Instance Equite et Reconcilliation (IET), a group which was assigned the task of reporting on human rights abuses. It was welcomed as a sign of Morocco's democratization, but it is limited in that it can not mention any incidences prior to 1999 or relating to the current government.
