Yolande Mukagasana has published two autobiographies including La Mort ne veut pas de mots and a book of tales. She also co-wrote a play called Rwanda 94. With the photographer Alain Kazinierakis, Mukagasana published a book in which survivors told their stories; the title of which is Blessures du silence.

Yolande Mukagasana worked as a nurse for 19 years at a hospital in
Kigali, Rwanda. Then she worked as chief nurse at a private clinic
that she opened in Kigali until 1994. She was a victim of the 1994 war
having lost her three children, her husband, her brother, and her
sisters. She is currently in Belgium where she arrived as a refugee;
she was naturalised in 1999. In 2003, she adopted her three nieces and
she cares for a group of orphans in Rwanda.
