Description of Work:

James Ngcobo is a stage, television and film actor. He has appeared in SABC3’s Hard Copy, SABC2’s Stokvel (sitcom) and has appeared at London's Young Vic in The Revolution. In addition, he has toured the United States as a cast member of The Horn of Sorrow and toured Britain in The Cherry Orchard.  He has also performed in SizwaBanzi is Dead at Britain's Festival Hall.

He trained with Kwa-Zulu Natal's Loft Theatre Company appearing in such productions as La Ronde, Mujaji, Horn of Sorrow and Jesus Christ Superstar. Subsequently, he worked with Theatre for Africa in various productions including Gone by the Wind and Kwamanzi.

James moved to Johannesburg where he improved his versatility by playing characters as diverse as Jacob in La Cage aux Folles (for which he won the award for best actor in a comedy) and Estragon in Waiting for Godot.

Theatre productions include Glass Roots at the Baxter theatre, The Pen and Green Man Flashing both at the Market Theatre and A Whole in One at the Liberty Theatre on the Square.

Television productions include a vast variety of roles in productions ranging from comedy to high drama. These include roles in the sitcom Schoop Schoombie, the controversial Yizo Yizo, Stokvel, Jozi Streets, Soul City and 90 Plein Street.
