Organization Details
The Africa Project was launched in 1999. Under consulting director Howard Wolpe, the project capitalizes on the Center's location in Washington, D.C., where the federal government is centered and such major financial institutions as the World Bank are headquartered, to promote dialogue among policymakers and academic specialists on both African issues and U.S. policy toward Africa. Presently, the Africa Project is composed of three core elements: public forums, a major capacity-building initiative in war-torn Burundi, and an Africanist Doctoral Candidate Fellowship Program
