In the late 17th century, King Adanggaman leads a war against his neighboring tribes. His soldiers torch villages, kill the elderly and take the healthy as prisoners to be sold to the europeans as slaves. Ossei becomes a victime of King Adanggaman when his village is attacked and all in his family are killed except for his mother. Ossei follows the King's man in order to save her and meets a warrior named Naka on his journey.
