Author Alexander McCall Smith's best-selling serious was adapted into a movie staring Jill Scott as the lead character Precious Ramotswe, the first and only female detective in Botswana. In the film Ramotswe investigates cases, assists the locals in solving various personal problems, and falls for the prominent owner of a successful garage. The movie is intended to be the pilot to a 13 episode series on BBC.
