In the heart of Africa lie the legendary Mountains of the Moon, presently known as the Rwenzori Mountains. Its icecapped peaks are said to be the highest sources of the Nile. A constant veil of clouds and mist have added an air of mystery to these extremely steep and rugged mountains. In these primeval landscapes grows a vegetation so unusual and extravagant it has been called “botanical big game”. Drawn by the enigmatic beauty of this afroalpine vegetation Sebastian Schutyser captures an otherworldly Africa in radiant black-and-white photographs.
