The Parque Nacional du Kissama (also spelled Quicama) was established as a game reserve in and later developed into a national park in 1957.  It is still recovering from the 21 civil war, in which the park was terribly mismanaged and poaching went unprosecuted, but there is plenty of wildlife to be seen.  Ostriches, antelope, and elephants have particularly made a comeback in the region.

Bring a tent to camp out in the park, or rent a bungalo at the Hotel Forum.  Call in advance at 32 4344 or email at fundacaokissama@netangola.com.  The accomdations are a bit pricey (as high as $80 in the peak of tourist season), but the scenery makes it well worth the price.
