The Ethiopian National Museum is a must-see for all tourists in the capital. There is a plaster replica of Lucy, an early hominid--the 3.5 million year old bones are currently loaned to museums in Texas. There are also artificats, paintings, and other historical documents that detail the history of Ethiopia. There is a wealth of information and it is generally not crowded. Many staff members are very knowledgable and will provide a mini-tour if asked politely. The museum is located between Arat Kilo Avenue and the University of Addis Ababa Graduate School. Don't miss the beautiful outdoor gardens.
