Description of Work:
Before becoming Prime Minister in 2004, she was the minister of planning and finance, and she continued to hold that post until February 2005. Diogo began her career in the Mozambique's Finance Ministry in 1980. She rose in the ranks to head to department in 1986. In 1989 she became national budget director. In 1994 she joined the FRELIMO government as deputy finance minister. She is still member of this party that has ruled Mozambique since independence in 1975. As a leader, Diogo has urged the African health ministers to offer reproductive and sexual health services free of charge throughout the continent. This would reduce the incidence of HIV/AID and child mortality among other things.
