He studies HR Management at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), Cape Town Campus.
Beginning of Career
In 2002 he hooked up with the late Fortune Muparutsa from Wheels of Fortune Records (WOFMAN) and recorded that same song he wrote when he was 9 along with his little brother Kevin and they titled the track Let’s Party! Their stage names then were Lil Keith & Lil Kev. He was 12yrs then and his brother 9yrs. That was the first single off the album Lets Party then they recorded Schoolboy which he wrote whilst he was in Zimbabwe. "Schoolboy’s basically about how education is important in life and how girls were the main distraction", Kapital K said.
The album had 6 tracks:-
* Let’s party
* Schoolboy
* Let’s party remix
* Schoolboy remix
* Let’s party instrumental
* Schoolboy instrumental
The tracks were a big success. They did a radio launch in Gweru, Zimbabwe for the album with DJs Gulaz and Bridget etc… They did shows at Barbour’s for the youths and appeared on various TV shows like Star Kids and Youth.com. They had interviews left right and centre. They were also interviewed by various journalists and appeared in most major newspapers like the whole page of The Herald Entertainment (title - New Kids on the Block) & The Standard (Sizzling Sensation).
High School
The young duo then had to take a break because they were now going to high school (St John’s College) and that was the focus! It was only in form 4 (Grade 11) that Kapital K and his homies decided to put out a mixtape called the Green Album just representing their school and this caused drama. People knew that Kapital K was the hottest rapper around so other schools insisted on bringing out their own music but targeted towards him and his crew! It was all hate coming from them.
The album was loved by most and being Lil Keith he got mad props for the productions! Then after all that he began to work with Tags as he found himself easily adapting to the type of beats Tags made. "He’s a great producer!" Kapital K said. "I did a few tracks with him just getting the grip of things and we built a relationship. Then we became BOYZ!"
Big Project
In 2008 Kapital K came out with a joint mixtape Fresh out the Oven produced by Tags and that really showcased their hip hop talent! The mixtape was off the mark however it was not marketed well.
Kapital K is constantly reminded daily of how talented he is and how he just needs to cross over so the world can hear what he is all about and he is looking for that gap! The best statement he was told when performing in Johannesburg at Monte Casino was that "YOU ARE GOLD"! He found that very powerful!
Kapital K's latest project is a collaboration with Ba'ponga from Gabon who sings in French. It is a North meets South; Francophone meets Anglophone collaboration where two leaders work together to motivate young people to show them that they can make something of their lives.
The name of the project is called All or Nothing and the video will soon be on MTV Base and Channel O.
Kapital K performed at the Inaugural Annual CPUT Fashion and Arts Expo at the Cape Town Campus. Also on the line up was Black Gold (SA’s newest hip hop sensational crew).
He performed at the Inaugural Annual Miss International Student Africa where he performed "With You featuring Stan1" on stage.
