Steven Pienaar is a player who divides opinion among football fans in his homeland, but no one can ignore his immense talent and ability to make South Africa tick.

Working in tandem, Pienaar and fellow midfield schemer Teko Modise have the ability to dismantle opponents' best-laid plans through their rare combination of skill and composure. Pienaar was part of the Bafana Bafana squad that travelled to the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan™, South Africa's last appearance at the finals.

What is more, Pienaar has reinvented himself since joining English Premier League high-flyers Everton, to such an extent that he is now considered by many to be a genuine South African football great. He has also silenced some of his detractors recently by putting in a number of powerful performances in national-team colours.
