Chris Kanyane worked as a Chief Researcher at the Human Sciences Research Council. Prior to this he worked as a Research Librarian at the now University of Johannesburg and Tshwane University of Technology for a period of 11 years. In 2002-2004 he collaborated with the Netherlands government Ministry of Higher Education Cooperation to conduct research on family literacy in Soshanguve and Mabopane townships. The results of the research were published in a form of a research report in Africa Development Journal produced the Council for the Development of Social Sciences in Africa (Codesria) that is based in West Africa – Senegal. Chris Kanyane also was involved with AfricaFiles, an African community research that is based in North America – Canada . AfricaFiles is a network of people committed to Africa through its promotion of human rights, economic justice, African perspectives and alternative analyses. The group was launched early in 2002 by former volunteers in two well-established groups based in Toronto, Canada but supported by numerous other people - in Canada, Africa , and elsewhere. These groups were: the Economic Rights in Southern Africa group of the Inter-Church Coalition on Africa (ICCAF), which is now a part of KAIROS-Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives, and the Toronto Committee for the Liberation of Southern Africa (TCLSAC) which, for more than 20 years, published the Southern Africa Report (SAR). Kanyane has published several research papers for AfricaFiles covering the regional body – the Southern African Development Community with its headquarters in Botswana . Chris Kanyane also is the author of two books: Create Better Life Now and Turfloop: a conscious pariah. Create Better Life Now was won the iUniverse editors award in the United States of South Africa. Chris Kanyane has a four year Bachelor of Library and Information Science degree from University of the North. He also has a Master of Business Administration degree frrom Mancosa. Kanyane also have been designated by American Academy of Financial Management as Master Finance Professional. He also studied Advanced Project Management in East Africa, Tanzania .
