Description of Work:
Kamunanwire received his education in New York at Columbia University, and later returned to the city as an educator in Black Studies and International Relations at the City University of New York where one if his students said he was "Simply the best. He is as real as he gets."

Scholarly writings by the Ambassador include "A Study Guide to Uganda" (Boston University Press, 1970), which he co-edited, and "We, the PanAfrikans: Essays on the Global Black Experience" (Edward W. Blyden Press, 1993) to which he wrote the forward. He has written many other articles in the field of international relations.

In 2003, he served as an adjunct professor at the Center for Conflict Management and Organizational Research associated with Sophia University in Bulgaria before being appointed Ambassador to the United States in May of 2006.

Other foreign diplomatic positions include Ambassador to Germany (1986-1988) and Ambassador of Uganda to the United Nations in New York (1988-1996).
