Dr. Florence Muli-Musiime is a social scientist with 25 years (post PhD) professional experience at the national, regional and international levels. Currently, Dr. Muli-Musiime is the deputy director general of the African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) and Chancellor and Chair of the Council of Daystar University (an honorary position). Her professional career began in government service in Kenya, establishing standards and quality psychological services for prisoners and children in conflict with the law, staff development and later in operations research. In 1985, she became a founding member and Regional Secretary of the African Network for the Prevention and Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN) and in pursuit of children’s rights, led a team of consultants in drafting the Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the African Child. Dr. Muli-Musiime has also served in positions with the Rockefeller Foundation, including providing leadership for the Public Health Schools without Walls Programme, a program aimed at building developing country universities capacity at MPH level in Africa and Southeast Asia, and at the UN-HABITAT global headquarters in Nairobi.
