I am a senior at the Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA, soon to graduate and join the class of 2012 at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. I, along with classmate Rebecca Hart, am a current intern at allAfrica's office in Washington, DC.
Last summer, I spent five weeks Kenya, Africa, on an outreach trip with the organization Global Routes, and was immediately captured and drawn in to the amazing beauty of the country, the culture, and the people. I have always had a keen interest in and passion for Africa, which was only intensified by my experience last summer. My curiosity to learn, understand, and experience all things African has drawn me to this particular internship where I hope to continue exploring and learning. I plan to travel back to Kenya and other African nations as soon as possible, and, although I am just nearing my freshman year in college, know that I have found a passion that will be the center of my career and future.
