Organization Details

SADC aims to promote sustainable development; poverty alleviation, peace and security; and the evolution of common political values, systems, and institutions. Its Member States are expected to act according to the following principles: sovereign equality; solidarity, peace and security; human rights, democracy, and the rule of law; equity, balance and mutual benefit; and peaceful settlement of disputes. SADC is currently attempting to shift its mandate from co-ordination of development projects to a more complex task of integrating the economies of Member States.
