(CEPHS) Cookey Environmental And Public Health Services (CEPHS) was set up to coordinate sustainable development and environmental management by finding ways of improving the relationship between man and his environment. It therefore encourages the sustainable use of resources. Apart from environmental sustenance, the areas of public health, gender issues, agriculture and forestry, as well as youth and community development are of special interest to CEPH. The body has been involved in many projects since its founding in 1997, which include the organization of workshops with Rivers State environmental sanitation authority in solid waste and sewage management. They have also been involved in the strengthening of the local government environmental sanitation committees of the states. CEPH has been a consultant to Save Earth, an international NGO on solid waste management. It has developed a capacity building program on environmental legislation and compliance experiments for the UNDP sponsored "states' environmental legislation" in the country.
