Rough Guide to Music of Mali and Guinea (2000)
United culturally and linguistically since the days of the historic Mande Empire, the neighbouring West African countries of Mali and Guinea share the rich traditions of the jeli (or griot) minstrels, kora (African harp) and balafon (xylophone). This Rough Guide is a celebration of supreme Mande talent, featuring legendary dance bands, kora maestros, Mali's desert blues and wassoulou praise singers.
