The main character is a middle-aged screenwriter working to "create a film about Tunisian life." There are many flashbacks to his childhood in the 1950's, leading up to the independence of Tunisia. Ultimately, there is a lot of imagery of decay and loss, and the film seems to have many political and social undertones. This is a great film for learning about the transformative nature of Tunisian society.
