One of the few slave forts to be built east of the Volta River, Fort Prinzenstein was originally constructed in 1714 by the Danes only to be abandoned and then used by the Dutch and then the British. Partially washed away by the Atlantic Ocean, the Fort now serves as a museum of rememberence of the slave trade.
