This is the main attraction of Foumban. The Royal Palace of Foumban is currently inhabited by the sultan, who is the 19th ruler of the Bamoun dynasty. The history of this dynasty dates back to the 14th century, and is excellently chronicled in the Place's museum (completed in 1917). King Njoya is a particularly famous figure in the collection, and there is a great assortment of belongings of previous sultans including jewelry, art, and arms. Admission is around $4 and the guides are very well informed.
