Mombasa, despite its laid-back atmosphere, is a major commercial center. There are countless stores, restaurants, clubs and other establishments, and streets such as this one do stand in contrast with the cobblestone of Old Town. A great deal of the city can be explored on foot, with meandering narrow side streets opening on to major thoroughfares. The days are hot and humid, the nights temperate with cool ocean breezes. Mombasa is an idyllic city.
