This is a view of a river that runs through Mathare. Sadly, it is highly polluted, and garbage is piled high on the shores. This is also a location of illegal brewing, a practice that has killed many people due to the dangerous chemicals used. One brew, called Kumi Kumi (Swahili for "ten" because each drink costs 10 shillings) frequently contains battery acid and other highly dangerous ingredients, causing death and blindness. Along the shores of this river, massive old barrels will be used to brew these illegal beverages.
