This is downtown Nairobi, overlooking Uhuru Park. The city is a major commercial, diplomatic, tourist and cultural center of the entire region. Wealth and poverty coexist in Kenya's capital, with some of Africa's biggest slums sprawling near the continent's tallest buildings. It is a bustling metropolitan area, home to the headquarters of countless international organizations, and featuring upscale hotels, restaurants and clubs. It is from here that we depart for a bus trip through East Africa.
