Whatever your reason for traveling – study, aid work, business, diplomacy, leisure – this site aims to become your indispensable resource. Type “Africa” and “travel” into the leading search engine, and you’ll get maybe 160 million links, most of them small tour operators or personal websites!

There’s no comprehensive resource for trip planning. Do you want to stay in an eco-lodge in a game park? Watch birds in Mauritius? Surf the best beaches? Buy a conflict-free diamond? Hear the latest local music? Hire the best guide for Goree Island? Put your children in school in Nairobi? Get your telephone connected in Timbuctu? Find a free Internet hotspot in downtown Johannesburg? Form a group to discuss security in Lagos?

Once all that information is collected, it’s dated by the time the pages are posted. Hotels change owners and characters. Tour operators go bankrupt. Restaurants go out of business. So it all has to be constantly refreshed.

Nobody can produce that kind of website. But, together, we all can. This new, new thing is a work in progress. It’s not much use yet, except as a curiosity, an idea, a glimmer of potential. The more content you add, the more code we’ll write to display and sort and link it. The more powerful it will all become – for us, for you, for Africa.
